First Set
|
The 1st Set of 18 movements is designed to stimulate the harmonious flow of Chi (energy) around the network of energy channels in the human body which are usually called "meridians". Whist the 1st Set has a very beneficial effect on all the meridians of the body it is slightly more focused on opening up the channels in the arms.
Ideally you should practice the 1st Set for at least six months before commencing any training in the 2nd Set of Shibashi which is more advanced. However, for most people just practicing the 1st Set will be more than sufficient to promote good health. If you progress at the rate of learning three new movements every week you will be practising the entire 1st Set of Shibashi after only six weeks. |
