MOVING
Traditionally all systems of moving Chi Gung were called "Dao Yin". It was only during the 20th century the phrases Chi Gung, Chi Kung and Qi Gong came into popular use. They mean the same thing and are all pronounced...chee gung. Chi means Energy and Gung means Work. There are many very old styles of Dao Yin such as Dragon and Tiger, Wild Goose and the Ba Duan Jin. But they have all been overtaken by Shibashi as it is easy to learn, very safe to practice, has many health benefits and is also time-efficient. |

HOW AND WHERE CAN YOU LEARN SHIBASHI?
LOCAL CLASSES / WORKSHOPS
Probably the quickest way to find out about local classes is to do a Google search. This may well bring up useful information to help you find a suitable class. You can also check out local ads in community halls, libraries and coffee shops! Alternatively you could arrange to attend a workshop. This will usually involve spending one or two days learning the 1st Set of Shibashi. This should be enough time to learn the movements to a very good standard. Longer workshops and residential courses are sometimes available for those who want to teach Shibashi. |
DVD / VIDEO TUTORIALS
Over the years since Shibashi was introduced to the West there have been various tutorials offered on DVD for learning the 1st Set. Most of these are no longer available but you may still find something to your liking on sites like Amazon or Ebay. Today such teaching is often being done through online videos which sometimes use live streaming. The very best video tutorials designed to help you teach yourself Shibashi at home are those on the website of Master Wing Cheung. You can find details of his Home Study Course by clicking or tapping on the link below. |
ONLINE CLASSES
For those people who do not have the facility of attending a local class there is now the option of attending online classes on Zoom or Skype. Whilst you can study Shibashi with a DVD or video tutorial some people will still prefer to learn directly with an experienced Senior Instructor. Fabrice Piché is a representative of Professor Lin Housheng and he is based in Canada. He offers online classes for learning the 1st Set via the Taiji Qigong Academy. You can obtain full details of his classes by clicking or tapping on the link below which will take you to his website. |
