AURA
The human body is encased in an egg-shaped energy field which is commonly known as the Aura. This energy field extends outwards in layers from the physical body and these layers are usually called the "Subtle Bodies". (see below)
Each subtle body is a complete energy structure dealing with the corresponding aspects of a human being. It also interacts with the all other layers of the auric system in a highly sophisticated manner. The aura is able to expand and contract and it constantly interacts with the auras of other people on a daily basis. In a healthy aura the boundary of the energy field will have no breaks or dislocations and forms a protective energetic barrier. An important part of keeping the energy system healthy is that it should be kept properly grounded. That means the energy system must maintain a good connection to the Earth which is the source of Chi. Chi Gung (Qigong) is an excellent way to keep your energy grounded and your feet firmly on terra firma. ETHERIC BODY The etheric body is the layer of the aura that is closest to the physical body and it is an exact duplicate of the physical body. For that reason it is often called the "etheric double". In the Orient it is sometimes called the Chi Body. (Energy Body) Think of it as having two identical twins standing side by side. One of them is the dense physical body and the other one (the etheric body) is made up of more refined material. We can use the analogy of a phanthom body for the etheric. Now think of the physical and etheric bodies merging together so that the slightly larger etheric body both surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. The etheric body extends about one finger's width beyond the surface of the physical. The etheric double has an extensive network of energy centres (chakras) and energy channels (meridians) that allows for Chi to be supplied to every part of the system. This vital force operates throughout the entire physical body and powers all of it's biological/physiological activities. As well as the physical breath which moves air in/out of the lungs there is also a subtle breath. This relates to the ebb and flow of Chi (life force) throughout the etheric body. An important purpose of Chi Gung is to harmonise the physical breath with the subtle (energetic) breath. It achieves this by proper coordination of breathing and movement as you perform each exercise of the Set. The etheric counterpart is the active functioning element of each of the five senses. But it's capabilities go beyond this and development of the etheric body is believed to facilitate an expansion of awareness. This can manifest a range of skills that would be described in the west Extrasensory Perception, such as mental telepathy, remote viewing, precognition, reading energy (auras) and directly manipulating Chi. This could even extend to Psychokinesis where physical objects are moved with Chi (directed by the mind) and without any direct physical contact. |
